Tesco Shopper Writes About Her Experience With An Autistic Cashier.. HEARTWARMING!


A shopper named Emma Shawcross shared her recent visit to a local Tesco supermarket on Facebook, and her post went viral.

Her experience specifically had to do with one particular cashier, and a surprising open letter about her experience.

On September 14, Emma went to a Tesco supermarket store in Diss, Norfolk.

After getting all the items she needed into her shopping cart, Emma went on to get her groceries checked out.point 368 |

She put her items on the conveyor belt, and was served by a cashier named Rob.point 63 |

“I want to tell you about my experience at your Diss store today.point 211 |

When I got the till with my large trolley of shopping there was no queue, so I started putting my items straight onto the conveyer belt.point 111 | The guy on the till said hello and started scanning my items as I was still putting them on the belt the other end.point 203 |

When she asked for the bags, the cashier counted each one, and then recounted them before handing them over to her.point 215 |

Even though the cashier accidentally squashed her bread when he scanned it, Emma patiently waited.point 84 | She also waited silently as the cashier took time to recount the money and the changes.point 156 |

However, what she wrote on Facebook was not a letter of complaint.point 211 |

“But you know, every moment of that was just perfect.
I asked him how he was finding the job and he chatted a bit about his experience of Tesco, and how they had given him an opportunity many other employers hadn’t.”

It turned out that the cashier was autistic. And this experience was particularly meaningful to Emma because of her son…who also has autism.

She wrote,

as a mother of a 12 year Autistic boy, this makes my heart smile. Changing attitudes teamed with employers, like you, who really do offer equal opportunities are changing people’s lives.
So thank you Tesco, it was a pleasure shopping with you today.”

As you can imagine, many people were genuinely touched by Emma’s post, and the employees of Tesco social media team actually replied to her post – thanking her for sharing her story.
