A hilarious Facebook post showing the maid of honor showing up in a T-Rex costume for her sister’s wedding has gone viral on social media.
Christina Meador, the woman inside the suit, opened up about her prehistoric fashion statement and assured everyone that it didn’t offend the newlyweds at all. In fact, they supported her.
Christina said that her older sister Deanna Adams contacted her a year before about the wedding in Nebraska.
She said, “About a year ago, my big sister texted me asking if I would be her maid of honor. She, knowing that I’m not a big fan of wearing formal dresses and that I probably wouldn’t have a lot of money to buy something really nice, reassured me by letting me know that I could pick out any outfit that I choose.”

Apparently, Deanna had no idea where that comment would lead.
“I was trying to think of something that I would be willing to wear more than once and thought to myself, “Well, she did say ‘anything,’ and if I’m spending more than $50, I want it to be a dinosaur costume, because they’re fantastic and I’ve always wanted one,” the Texas woman gushed.
“I sent her a text so that she could have a laugh – surprisingly she was OK with it!”
The T-Rex costume wasn’t Christina’s only option as she toyed with the idea of wearing a TARDIS police phone box costume (from “Doctor Who”). However, the idea of wearing the dinosaur ensemble just “stuck.”
She actually had a proper dress for the wedding but as fate would have it, she lost weight before the event and now the dress was too big. That left her with one option.
Encouraged by her sister’s wedding, Christina donned the inflatable T-Rex costume and the rest, as they say, is history.
Of the full-body costume, Christina said, “It was hot! I remember being surprised that everyone seemed to be doing their best to avoid noticing the elephant in the room (or should I say dinosaur) but it was hard to see in the costume.”
The cheeky maid of honor switched back to normal clothes for the reception but later shared the iconic photo of her wearing the costume on Facebook which she didn’t expect would create so much buzz.
While Christina says most of the comments have praised her for being original and creative, some have suggested that she was trying to upstage her sister. Deanna quickly hit back on the naysayers and defended her “awesome” little sister.
“It’s not a joke, it’s a giant middle finger at spending thousands of dollars and putting ungodly amounts of pressure on ourselves just to please a bunch of people who, in the end, only want free food and drinks,” Deanna replied to one comment. “The point was to get married to the man who treats me like I hung the moon, and we did that part.”
“My sister is awesome and I genuinely was not kidding when I said she could wear whatever she wanted,” she added.
