A plane carrying 100 people crashed into a home after it took off in bad weather conditions in Kazakhstan, killing 12 people.
A baby miraculously survived and has been pulled from the wreckage.
Rescue workers were helping survivors from the wreckage when they spotted a baby among the ruins and immediately brought to safety.
One of the workers quickly ran towards an ambulance to seek urgent medical help for the little one.
According to reports, survivors pleaded for help on social media as they waited around 20 minutes for emergency services.
Many posted videos online while others called emergency services after Bek Air flight Z2100 crashed upon leaving Almaty city.
Kazakhstan’s civil aviation agency said that the aircraft ‘lost altitude during takeoff and broke through a concrete fence.’
“Bek Air #Z92100 crashed shortly after takeoof from Almaty this morning. Preliminary ADS-B data is available at flightradar24.com/blog/bek-air-f … We are currently retrieving and processing granular ADS-B data for this flight,” Flightradar24 posted on social media.
Survivor Gulnara Koshenova said the plane had started to ‘gain height’ immediately after takeoff. “Then there was a strong shake, and in the end the crash.
“Everything began to shake and fall… there were screams…Someone broke the emergency exit and we ran out.”
Another survivor said: “It took off, did one circle and crashed.”
“The plane started banking from side to side and going down. It seemed to me that we just landed in a bad way,” a woman said.
“Then I saw that part of the plane collapsed. We came out onto the wing and saw that half of the plane was under rubble.”
One passenger said in a social media post that it took around 20 minutes for ‘security’ vehicle to arrive.
“Bek Air… Crash… 20 minutes…Only this car just arrived…And some security car takes the (injured) kids away,” the woman said. “No more help. No ambulances… no paramedics.”
The airport shared a list of people who were receiving medical care. Over 30 victims were rushed to different hospitals with severe injuries.
The aircraft’s captain, 58-year-old Murat Muratbayev, passed away in hospital.
