It was truly a surprising yet emotional moment when the 10-month-old baby boy woke up from a five day coma.
Doctors were surprised and the baby boy showed his toothless grin seeing his father when he opened the eyes.
Michael, the son of Stuart and Emma Labuschagne, rushed to the hospital when he was just 14 weeks old. He seemed to be breathless and initially it was diagnosed as a cardiac arrest.
It was on March 16th and five days later on March 21st, he opened his eyes and smiled at Stuart.
Even though it was such an awesome moment for his parents and the people surrounding him, this happiness didn’t stay longer.
Everyone was broken with the news that his cardiac arrest was due to the rear tumor in his small heart.
The condition is called cardiac fibroma and only a few patients were heard to have this condition in UK.
Even though, no permanent cure was suggested by the NHS, a hospital in Boston promises that they can remove the tumour.
But he has to wait for another six months till his heart gains an ideal size to be operated.
Michael’s parents are struggling to raise the amount for this life-saving surgery which costs around £120,000.
Fortunately, the bossed of NHS paid this amount to the Boston hospital.
To control the rhythm of his tiny heart, a pacemaker was fitted to him once he recovered from the coma.
Regrettably, the pacemaker was too big for his small body and that’s why it was restricting his movements.
Now, he can’t support his head or sit up properly.
But really Michael is a miracle that no one who sees his smile will ever think that he is going through this.
