An 8-month-old baby died and five others badly scorched after a fire broke out in a house in Antioch, Tennessee.
The children were alone in the house as their mothers were off to party at a nightclub.
The tragedy, which happened at about 2 am, resulted in a loss of a precious life and death risk to 5 others.
Baby Jream died on the spot while her 23-month-old brother got severe burns. Other four children, the eldest among whom was no more than 6-years, also received critical injuries.
At the moment the fire broke out, the eldest child aged 6 came out of the house, running and shrieking to seek help for his little fellows.
On witnessing him and the blazing Hickory Lake Apartment, two passers-by called the rescue authorities.
The firefighters immediately appeared at the scene and managed to save the five children out of the searing flames and smoke. Unfortunately, Jream had already died by that time.
When the children’s mothers, aged 25 and 23, arrived, they claimed that their kids were not alone and that they had a babysitter with them.
However, the firefighters and police couldn’t find any adult alive or dead in the apartment.
The police are saying that the women who had been partying in the nightclub whole Saturday night showed up on Sunday after the arrival of the firefighters.
The women are persistent that they could not leave their children alone.
Taking to social media, Kween Kandi, the mother of the deceased 8-month-old, said: “I DIDN’T LEAVE MY F******G KIDS … I Made A Mistake & I’m The Only One Gotta Deal w/ It. We Know What Happen My Baby Is In Heaven At Peace She Was Loved & Taken GREAT CARE OF!”
“I love my kids, I love my kids so much,” she said in another comment. “That’s my only little girl, I love that little girl more than I love my life.”
She also said that the GoFundMe account formed in the name of Jream Jenkins was fake.
“Do Not Donate To This Page I Don’t Know These People My Daughter Is Jream Davenport,” she said.
Neighbor Emily Hester expressed sorrow that she couldn’t help the child despite being living next door. “That breaks my heart very bad to know a baby has passed in this fire, right here next to me,” said Hester.
The real cause of the fire is still unknown but it is thought that the blaze might have sparked from a candle in the same room where the dead baby was found.
Police are investigating whether the incident was an arson attack or a consequence of criminal neglect by children’s mothers or babysitter.
