The rescue workers nursed the baby elephant back to health but it was the loneliness that was killing him this time.
Being abandoned by his herd, Unbuntu, aka Ellie was living a depressed life until a certain animal chose to become his friend and made all the difference.

Ellie was rejected by his herd when he was just two weeks old. He was rescued by the conservationists at the Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage. He was diagnosed with a serious health condition that affected his breathing and had joint problems.
He was apparently suffering from septicemia and umbilical abscess, a bacterial infection of the blood.
Karen Trendler along with the staff from the orphanage took care of Ellie and brought him to his healthy self.
She said that it was a challenge to take care of a baby elephant that was abandoned by his herd. He is finally stabilizing and still with them, it was an emotional roller-coaster.
Even though he received all the medical attention and care he needed, something else was missing from his life. Karen got the feeling that Ellie was craving companionship.
Hence the staff at the orphanage decided to introduce Ellie to a former service dog named Duma. It had a massive impact on the baby elephant that he suddenly started to have a little bit of interest in life again.
