Baby’s clothes caught fire after a group of people launched fireworks into the stroller the baby was riding in.
The upsetting attack occurred in Dunstable, England, on Friday morning when a group driving around in a hatchback car reportedly launched a firework into a stroller with a young baby inside.
While the police do not think that the baby was the group’s intended target, the attack “could have resulted in serious harm.”
Fortunately, the baby was not injured even though the child’s clothes were partially burned.
Following the incident, the police have launched a hunt on the group that shot fireworks from their vehicle.
“We do not believe the child was targeted in this incident and although the firework burnt their clothing fortunately they were not injured,” PC Sam Allen explained.
“However, it was a very distressing incident and could have resulted in serious harm. We are very keen to speak to anyone who has information or was in the area at the time and has dashcam footage that could assist our inquiries.”
The incident follows shortly after people have called for a ban or firm restrictions on the sale of fireworks amid a surge of similar cases in the country.
Among other incidents involving explosives, people have recently targeted cars, homes, and healthcare workers by launching fireworks at them.
Earlier in November, a group of youths targeted London’s RSPCA Harmsworth Animal Hospital with fireworks and caused the staff inside to fear for their safety. “It’s like something out of a war zone,” one of the staff members said.
In another attack that took place on November 5, thugs have targeted a police van by firing multiple explosives at the vehicle.
