25-year-old Jordan Anchondo died while protecting her 2-month-old baby from bullets.
She was buying school supplies for her daughters when the gunman opened fire.
Her 19-year-old sister Leta Jamrowski said that the mother-of-three fell on top of her son after she was shot.
The baby suffered broken bones and is currently being treated in a hospital.
“From the baby’s injuries, they said that more than likely my sister was trying to shield him,” she told the Associated Press. “So when she got shot she was holding him and she fell on him, so that’s why he broke some of his bones.
“He pretty much lived because she gave her life.”
Jordan’s husband, Andre Anchondo, also died in the attack. He was almost finished building a home for his family when the incident happened.
In addition to their baby, the couple also have two daughters.
US Army veteran Arturo Benavides, 60, is one of the victims of Saturday’s shooting. He had been buying items with his wife when the gunman started shooting. His wife managed to escape but he didn’t make it in time.
His family members were heartbroken to learn that he was one of the victims. His niece, Jacklin Luna, told Buzzfeed of her uncle: “He was the person to always give a helping hand, a home to stay, and a meal.
“He loved each and every one of us in our own ways. Loved oldies on a Sunday morning, sitting out on his chair in the front porch with his dog Milo at his feet.”
15-year-old Javier Rodriguez, 86-year-old Angie Englishbee, Leonardo Campos, and seven Mexican nationals were among those killed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with their family and friends during this difficult time.
