Baby boy born without eyes is looking for a forever home after he was put up for adoption by his young mother who didn’t feel capable of taking care of a disabled child.
Baby Alexander ‘Sasha’ K was born without eyeballs but is otherwise totally healthy. While he will never be able to see according to the doctors, he has a good chance of getting used to a life without sight since he was born this way.
According to The Siberian Times, the boy’s mother was an orphan as a child and didn’t feel that she could take care of the baby alone after giving birth to him at a young age.
Speaking of the baby boy who was born in Tomsk, Siberia, the nurse responsible for his care said:
“He is no different to other children, he plays and smiles just like any healthy baby. He loves playing and adores swimming. He is a very cheerful baby indeed.”
Sasha, who is one of three currently registered babies to have been born without eyes, is a unique boy that is “doing well” according to his doctor, Tatiana Rudnikovich.
“Sasha is going through all regular check-ups and tests like any other baby of his age. He is doing well,” she said.
Baby Alexander, who is now looking for a forever home, is set to be adopted by Russian parents. If no one wants to take him in, however, foreign parents will be given the chance.
“He smiles back as soon as he hears familiar voices. His mother signed his refusal papers in the maternity hospital,” the boy’s adoption listing reads.
“There is no information about Alexander’s father and there is a ‘dash’ in his birth certificate where it should have been the name of the father. Alexander is up for adoption or foster care.”
