A newborn who was infected with the killer virus at only 5 days old has finally been discharged from a hospital after receiving treatment for a month.
The baby boy, named Mu’en, is China’s youngest coronavirus patient.
Five days after he was born, the newborn was diagnosed with coronavirus and was admitted to a provincial hospital as he sustained a serious infection in his lungs.
A special team was assembled to prepare treatment plans for Mu’en. After a month of anti-virus treatment and round-the-clock care, his condition improved.
Mu’en had been treated in quarantine and was finally reunited with his parents at the Henan Children’s Hospital in Zhengzhou city.
According to The Paper, he left the hospital after he had tested negative two times and his lungs had completely recovered.
One internet user commented: “Poor newborn had to go through a month of fighting this virus. The parents must have been so worried. But at least the best news possible happened and the baby can now go home.”
Another wrote: “Poor little boy. Bless you and your family!”
Last month, a 17-day-old baby girl in China managed to recover from the killer virus without medication after she was born to a coronavirus patient.
According to People’s Daily, the newborn was transferred to Wuhan Children’s Hospital where she was diagnosed with coronavirus.
As her symptoms were not obvious, medics decided to let her beat the disease on her own. She was then discharged from the hospital after making a complete recovery without the help of any medication.
China’s oldest coronavirus patient is 101 years old, who got the infection after celebrating his birthday. The centenarian also fully recovered after spending one week in a hospital.
