Being a human, dehumanizing a fellow human is a sin and nothing else.
Be the person of any financial status, of any profession, of any color or region, it has to be kept in mind that you or anyone around you is not allowed to make fun of the other or to make them feel dehumanized in any sense.
Now the experts are demanding from the authorities to ban the term cyclist as it is a dehumanizing term for the people who ride bikes.
Monash University and the Queensland University of Technology carried out a study and found out a link between dehumanizing cyclists and people having aggression for them that deliberately becomes the cause of accidents and leaving them to feel inferior.
Narelle Haworth, a professor of QUT revealed something that was shocking as well as saddening. She said she asked a question to about 442 people in total, out of which about 55% of people said that they do not consider cyclists to be humans. How terrible does it sound to you because it sounds extremely terrible to me.
Now she is demanding to ban the word “Cyclists” and to replace it with “the people who ride bikes.”
Haworth is not only a professor but also the Director of the Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety- Queensland. She said “people are very aggressive about the cyclists. I do not understand why. After the results of the survey came out, it was clear to me because people do not take them as real humans.”
“It is important to ban the term ‘Cyclist’ and to replace it with people because that is only when people will remember that people who ride bikes are humans too.”
The study found out that one out of every 5 drivers intentionally blocked the path of cyclists and one out of 10 drivers intentionally had cut them off.
This is terrible information to even be present and it the fact that people with such mentality exists should be changed immediately.
