Imagine if you could lose 35 pounds just by getting a haircut!
But this isn’t a weight loss story per se – this was what happened to Lazarus, a Great Pyrenees that was trapped inside of a barn for an extremely long time.

How do we know it was a long time? Take a look at his fur!
I don’t know about you, but to me, he looked more like a woolly sheep than a dog.
Big Fluffy Dog Rescue, the community that saved Lazarus, stated,
“You cannot imagine the squalor in which this dog lived and there are no words adequate to convey the horror. The person who owned him simply threw over his food and water to him.”

Apparently when rescuers found the barn, they had to shovel away a large amount of dirt and feces in order to open the barn door in the first place! It’s estimated that Lazarus had been trapped for about six years.
How could anyone forget about this poor creature for so long?
Big Fluffy Dog Rescue also said,
“I can’t imagine how he suffered in sweltering heat. But for the actions of a good Samaritan who came out to rescue him, this dog may never have seen the light of day.”

But now he has been brought to safety and is in good hands. Most of his matted fur has been shaved off and Lazarus looks much better!
I am so relieved that this beautiful dog was saved from that terrible barn, aren’t you?
