A French Bulldog was found panting and vomiting in a car by beach-goers.
With a temperature of 95 degrees Fahrenheit, they didn’t think twice about rescuing the sweltering animal. But when the owner returns FOUR hours later, he insisted that his dog was okay and didn’t need help.
The group surrounded the car parked at Frensham Ponds, Surrey. Scared that the dog might die inside, they decided to smash the side window with a hammer and freed the dog.
Then, they brought the dehydrated pet to the park ranger’s office.
Four hours later, the unapologetic owner arrived and claimed that the dog was completely fine. He also got mad and brought his face closer to the camera in a sarcastic manner.
“It’s not nice to threaten people that have just saved your dog’s life,” the woman said.
One onlooker also said: “No thanks was given, just abuse and threatening behavior.”
Park rangers had to return the dog back to the owner on the advice of authorities.
Leaving an animal in a hot vehicle, especially with windows closed, is unacceptable. Unfortunately, many people still ignore this warning.
In Bromley, police had to break a window to save a pooch in 90F heat. More than 4,000 people called the animal protection society to report dogs and other animals suffering from the heat.
Holly Barber, campaign manager of Dogs Die in Hot Cars for the RSPCA, said: “I simply don’t understand how people can possibly think it’s acceptable to leave a dog inside a parked car when temperatures outside are topping 30C.
It’s absolutely baffling that people who believe they are loving pet owners can even consider this as being acceptable.”
The RSPCA issues warnings as animals continue to die in the sweltering heat wave.
“Many people still believe that it’s OK to leave a dog in a car on a warm day if the windows are left open or they’re parked in the shade, but the truth is, it’s still a very dangerous situation for the dog.
A car can become as hot as an oven very quickly, even when it doesn’t feel that warm. When it’s 22 degrees, in a car it can reach an unbearable 47 degrees within the hour.”
