The lesser footfall of humans on the local beaches means more space for marine animals to build their nests.
The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, Florida, has noticed a rise in the populations of the marine animals who come to the sandy beaches and make their nests.
This has happened amid the coronavirus pandemic as humans have almost completely stopped coming to the local ultimately giving more space to the marine creatures to thrive and survive with freedom.
Since the beaches are left empty by the humans, sea turtles have spread their eggs all around that are left undisturbed.
Research and data’s senior manager of the center, Sarah Hirsch, said that apart from all, the leatherback sea turtles are the ones coming strong this year.
“We are so happy and excited to see the turtles thriving back with their population in the environment. The breakout of the crisis has left us all in the worry of how we are living the apocalypse which could end the world but it has a different side.
These tiny turtles have been doing the same for many years, in fact, for millions of years. And that they are still doing it gives us immense hope that the world is still surviving.”
As per the World Wildlife Foundation, all the 7 species of sea turtles are under threat of endangerment. The foundation claims the reason to be human activities for the downfall in the population of sea turtles.
Another factor influencing their arrival on the local beaches and settling by building nests is because of a reduction in waste.
With extreme intruding by humans, the waste levels in the water as well as on the beaches had raised that cased death of these exotic creatures. With the downfall of human intervention, the deposit of waste has also gone down which has given a new ray of hope and survival to these marine animals.
