Toshka the elderly bear who was rescued from circus after 25 long years of captivity now spends his days showering and basking in the sun.
After spending most of his life performing tricks for people in a circus, the elderly bear was finally taken to a sanctuary in Ukraine for life support and rehabilitation.
In a video taken recently, Toshka can be seen sitting happily while taking a shower under the sun. The heartwarming clip shows him drinking the water as drops land on his fur.
In Ukraine, temperatures can reach up to 32C (95F) so the cool water was a relief for the elderly bear.
Toshka’s caretaker said that he regularly showers in the sun as it was his ‘favorite pastime.’
“Most of his life he was a circus bear, and it was transferred by the last owner to us for rehabilitation and life support,” the caretaker added.
They also shared how the poor bear was so scared of humans that he refused to go out of the bushes for two weeks.
“A month ago, we transported him and 3 other bears. Toshka was very afraid of people: he didn’t leave the bushes for 2 weeks,” they said.
“Care and attention melted his heart. Now his favorite pastime is to shower in the sun. He takes a sitting position and is ready to sit for hours.”
