A mysterious beast without a head sparked concerns after residents saw it ‘preying’ on them for days without moving a muscle.
The bizarre incident took place in Poland where concerned residents reported a suspicious-looking beast in a tree to the Krakow Animal Welfare Society.
“It’s been sitting in a tree across the house for two days! People aren’t opening their windows because they’re afraid it will go into their house,” the person who called for help reportedly told the authorities. The caller went on to describe the predator as brown before suggesting it looked like an iguana.
Concerned about the giant lizard’s safety, the animal service was quick to embark on a rescue mission only to be in for a major surprise after discovering that the ‘beast’ was not even an animal.
As the inspectors who visited the residential area quickly found out, the thing on top of the tree had no legs or head. After taking a closer look, they realized that the scary ‘creature’ was in fact an innocent-looking croissant from up close.
“We already knew that we could not help this creature. The mysterious ‘lagoon’… turned out to be a croissant,” The Krakow Animal Welfare Society revealed in their Facebook post.
Though netizens were quick to find the incident hilarious, the organization urged people not to let the croissant discourage them from calling for help whenever they believe a real animal could be in danger.
