Stephen Hawking was a notable theorist, scientist, and a professor from England.
His works on quantum mechanics and cosmology are celebrated in the science world. Unfortunately, he died last month at the age of 76.
During his good old days, when he was researching, he warned us about the consequences the whole humanity has to face due to our irresponsibility towards mother Earth.
Some of the most critical and unnerving disclosure he made during his speech to CNBC seems like the first thing the whole humanity would experience.
He clearly echoed Elon Musk’s concern regarding artificial intelligence. In that speech, he said that artificial intelligence could prove to be the worst thing happened in the history of human civilization unless people find a way to control it.
According to him, it is simple for a computer to outshine and go beyond human intelligence.
He said that success in creating an AI could prove to be the biggest event in the human history, or maybe the ‘worst’. In that speech, he warned the society about what if things go south, we haven’t experienced its true power, so we don’t know to what extent it can go.
Other threats to human civilization that Professor Hawking addressed were the rapid growth in population, asteroid strikes, nuclear war, and epidemics. He also focused on the criticality of the climate change policy and publicly condemned Donald Trump for his attitude towards climate change.
Last year, in an interview with BBC, Professor Hawking stated that the human species, to survive extinction have to become multi-planetary. The potential threat of human extinction is the climate change. The sudden climate change is making our world inhabitable.
When asked about Trump’s stance on climate change policy, he said that we are standing at that point where things like global warming are almost irreversible, and Trump’s consent could push Earth to become more like Venus.
Climate change is one thing that needs to be dealt with, and if all humanity comes together, there is a chance of preventing the earth from exploding.
When asked about human extinction, he said that the conflict between the nations is increasing and there is a certain rise in the development of militarized technology. All this could lead to a disastrous event that humanity will regret one day.
Also, he said that the best hope for humanity to survive is to build independent colonies in outer space.
