Incredible video footage has emerged that shows a beluga whale returning an iPhone to its owner after she dropped it in the ocean.
Isa Opdahl was in a boat with her friends at Hammerfest harbour in Norway when she dropped her iPhone in the ocean.
A whale then emerged out of the ocean with the phone in its mouth. The whale returned it to the owner and went back.
The incredible video was posted online and left Internet users stunned. One user wrote: ‘I’ve always loved beluga whales so this makes me extra happy. I hope he got fish as a reward at some point.’
Another said: ‘wow..Can’t believe’ while the third one commented: ‘this is the most excellent thing. what a beautiful whale’
One user joked: ‘Why you polluting my house hooman, here take it back’
One asked: ‘Is it d same Russian trained whale??’
Marine experts said that the whale had been trained as a Russian operative and had escaped from a training facility.
Last week, Norwegian fisherman spotted a beluga whale wearing a camera attached to a harness.
Audun Rikardsen, an arctic and marine biology professor at the Arctic University of Norway, said:
‘We know that in Russia they have had domestic whales in captivity and also that some of these have apparently been released. Then they often seek out boats.’
