Betsey Johnson Collaborated With Disney For A Magical Mermaid-Inspired Accessories Collection


The Little Mermaid has always been one of every person’s absolute favorites.

Now, over 30 years after the film’s release fashion designer Betsey Johnson teamed up with Disney on a new line of accessories inspired by its 1989 film, The Little Mermaid.

Disney fans got extremely delighted after the announcement and showed their excitement on Twitter. One user said, “I need to go to Disney again. Betsey Johnson designed little mermaid ears.’’

Betsey will make an appearance at The Disney Dress Shop in Disneyland on Friday, February 21 to celebrate the launch of her newest collection. items range from $65 to 175.

This is not the first time when Betsey teamed up with Disney as she has collaborated with the company in August 2019 on Disney Parks Collection x Betsey Johnson. The collection included an Evil Queen- and Ariel-inspired jewelry line.

Betsey is best known for her feminine and whimsical designs. Many of her designs are considered “over the top” and embellished. She also is known for doing a cartwheel ending in a split at the end of her fashion shows.

She started her fashion career after she entered and won the Mademoiselle Guest Editor Contest. Within a year, she was the in-house designer for Manhattan boutique Paraphernalia. In 1978, Betsey started her own fashion line.

The National Arts Club awarded Betsey the 2009 Medal of Honor for Lifetime Achievement in Fashion.
