President Joe Biden’s German Shepherd has bitten another White House employee while he was out for a walk.
A National Park Service staff was rushed to the medical unit for treatment after Major ‘nipped’ him on Tuesday.
“Yes, Major nipped someone on a walk,” Michael LaRosa, Jill Biden’s press secretary, told CNN.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the individual was seen by WHMU (White House Medical Unit) and then returned to work,” LaRosa continued.
This comes only three weeks after Major was banished to Biden’s home in Delaware as he bit a security guard.
Major was last seen walking on a leash on Monday afternoon. It is not clear when the latest biting incident happened.
After the first biting incident, press secretary Jen Psaki defended Major and said that the first dogs were “still getting acclimated and accustomed to their new surroundings and new people.”
Psaki said the German Shepherd “was surprised by an unfamiliar person and reacted in a way that resulted in a minor injury to the individual, which was handled by the White House medical unit with no further treatment needed.”
In an interview with The Kelly Clarkson Show last month, First Lady Jill Biden said that she had been focused on getting their pooches settled into their new Washington home.
“They have to take the elevator, they’re not used to that, and they have to go out on the South Lawn with lots of people watching them. So that’s what I’ve been obsessed with, getting everybody settled and calm,” Jill said.
It was in November 2018 when Biden and his wife Jill adopted the pooch from an animal shelter. The couple adopted him as company for 14-year-old Champ after they were told that it would help the pooch to have a younger furry companion.
Major is the first rescue dog to stay in the White House.
