While speaking to a Pennsylvania crowd, Biden said “Back in 2009, during the so-called Great Recession, the president asked me to be in charge of managing that piece, then-President Trump…
“Excuse me, Freudian slip, that was the last president. He caused the… anyway, President Obama when I was vice-president.”
The 78-year-old president was making a speech at a Mack Truck assembly plant in Pennsylvania’s Leigh Valley. He was proudly speaking about his administration’s effort to boost American products.

The administration is planning to boost American products by updating the 1933 Buy American Act. The 1933 Buy American Act currently requires federal agencies to buy goods with at least 55% American-made components. Biden’s administration plans to increase that to 65% by 2024 and 75% by 2029.
Despite this announcement, conversation surrounding the speech focused on the president’s gaff.
It was immediately scrutinized on social media.

Though McClatchy reporter, Bryan Lowry, tweeted “Biden just confused Trump and Obama. He called it a Freudian slip, which would mean he has some subconscious feelings about his former boss.”
