Memorial day isn’t just a day off to celebrate the beginning of summer with some ice cold beers and a hot dog or hamburger.
Memorial is a day of remembrance for those who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy.
All of our veterans have given so much for our country, their precious time, their minds, and even their lives. Memorial day is a way for all of us to remember and honor them for the service they’ve done and will continue to do.
Without these men and women, the world would be a very different place and it’s important that we respect their sacrifices.
A group of military veteran bikers created an advocacy group called Rolling Thunder. They drove their choppers through a route in Washington D.C. on Memorial day in 1988 to honor their comrades who went missing in action (MIA) or were taken as a prisoner of war (POWs).

Ever since then, it has become a ritual called the Rolling Thunder Run for veteran bikers to take this route on every Memorial day.
Staff Sergeant Tim Chambers, is known as “The Saluting Marine”. For years, Chambers has stood in the middle of this demonstration saluting for the entire four hours of the demonstration.
In the video below from 2012, you can see that he never moves an inch during this salute. For an entire four hours under the hot sun in full uniform. We salute you, Tim Chambers!
In the clip below a female soldier who is going through the demonstration decides to stop her bike in front of where Chambers is standing and does something truly special.
