A Japanese billionaire, 44, is looking for a girlfriend aged 20 years or more to accompany him on his voyage around the moon with SpaceX in 2023.
The trip will be the subject of a documentary too.
Yusaku Maezawa, from Japan, wants the lucky lady to “be interested in going into space and able to participate in the preparation for it.”
Yusaku got the majority of his wealth by selling his online fashion retailer business Zozo Inc. to SoftBank Group Corp.
He is currently scrutinizing women for a TV show that will be streamed by the online TV service Abema TV.
The 44-year-old billionaire confessed on the online forum where he is shortlisting the applicants that the ‘feelings of loneliness and emptiness’ progressively started to ‘surge upon [him].’
Yusaku added: “I want to find a life partner. With that future partner of mine, I want to shout our love and world peace from outer space.”
The billionaire has just broken up with his girlfriend Ayame Goriki, a 27-year-old actress.
Yusaku is one of the passengers of the first private flight around the moon to be undertaken by Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
For the lunar mission codenamed Dear Moon, the billionaire is going to take artists with him to get inspiration for their future work.
The lunar mission documentary titled Full Moon will be live-streamed on Abema TV. The streaming service is backed by TV Broadcaster Asahi and ad agency CyberAgent.
The documentary is a part of the efforts to attract people back to traditional TV which has recently seen a sharp decline in viewership.
The lunar mission is not the only high-profile stunt pulled off by Yusaku.
He recently announced a $9 million giveaway to his Twitter followers in an attempt to start a debate on the idea of a minimum income.
He’ll select 1,000 followers from the ones who retweeted a January 1 tweet from him to give them one million yen, equivalent to $9,088.
Yusaku, who likes being called an electric billionaire, has an estimated net worth of around $2 billion, according to Forbes.
He famously spent $110 million on a painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat, making it the highest-priced painting ever made and sold by an American Artist.
Applications for Full Moon Lovers are open till January 17 and Yusaku will be finalizing his significant other in March.
