Months after getting engaged to the love of her life, Bindi Irwin, the daughter of Steve Irwin, has announced that she will be walking down the aisle with a koala on her wedding day.
21-year-old Bindi and her boyfriend Chandler Powell got engaged in July and are already working on the preparations for their wedding which is set to take place in 2020.
As Bindi wrote on social media following the surprise proposal, Chandler came up with “the most beautiful surprise” as the two were in Australia Zoo gardens.
Unsurprisingly, the animal-themed wedding will also take place at the zoo with animals playing a major part in the ceremony.
Speaking of the couple’s wedding plans on Good Morning America, Chandler said:
“We’re so excited. It’s where we met and where we got engaged so it only makes sense that we’d have it at Australia zoo.
“See, I think this wedding is going to be unique because it’s going to be at the zoo and with tons of animals.”
“I’m not sure how many people have walked down the aisle with a koala, but we may be setting some new trends for weddings from here on out,” Bindi excitedly jumped in.
“The easiest part of wedding planning is just knowing that I get to marry this amazing guy. Whatever else happens it doesn’t matter.”
As the 21-year-old shared on Twitter, she has already “said yes to the dress.” As for her younger brother, Robert, he revealed that he will be the one to take late Steve’s place in walking Bindi down the aisle.
“It’s so important to include the people that can’t be there with you, so on the day, I know that Robert is absolutely gonna walk me down the aisle and I think that’s what would make dad happiest,” Bindi confirmed in an interview with E! News.
