Margarett Adenuga (68) and her husband Noah (70) were trying for a baby for the last 43 years.
After such a long time, the couple finally had a baby with the help of the IVF technique.
Even here, the couple failed to conceive for the first three attempts, but now they are parents to a girl and boy. They were delivered on April 14th, 2020 by C-section at Lagos University Teaching Hospital located in Nigeria.
Noah talked to the TVC news and revealed that he had a dream back in 1996 that told him that one day he would be known around the world. This is the inspiration that kept the couple going even after so many years and one after another failed attempt.
A team of fertility doctors even warned the couple that it would be harmful to Margarett’s health to proceed with the pregnancy. However, Noah said that this was not the decision doctors should be concerned with.
The hospital where Margarett delivered the babies, constantly monitored her health throughout the pregnancy, and she decided to have the surgery in 37 weeks.
According to the reports. Dr Adeyemi Okunowo explained that although this birth is touted as a miracle, it was a huge risk to go ahead with this. The hospital shared the news on its Facebook page and outlined the details of the delivery.
The post read that LUTH has delivered a primigravida (68) with a twin gestation through an IVF conception. The mother had decided for an elective C-section at 37 weeks on April 14th, 2020 Wednesday.
The transfer of IVF and embryo was conducted outside the facility post, which she was referred to the hospital for early gestation and administrated throughout the process. LUTH, Nigeria and Africa are seeing such a case for the first time.
The statement also said that the mother and babies are healthy. Many people congratulated the new parents. The couple got married in the year 1962 but failed to conceive throughout their relationship until now.
