Apparently, it’s not just humans who want to escape the scorching summer heat.
The Basso family, who live in Rockaway Township, New Jersey, were surprised to find a family of black bears frolicking in their backyard swimming pool.
One of the Basso kids can be heard yelling, “There’s bears in the pool!”
The mama bear and her five cubs were certainly enjoying themselves to the hilt just splashing around for an hour before they decided to leave, probably to swarm another family’s backyard.
It’s not just the pool that was the main attraction, however. Later on, the cubs could be seen running around the rest of the yard trying out the slide, gnawing one of the flotation devices, and generally just having a good time.
There was one scare, though, when the mama bear decided to play with the water pump that was connected to the electrical outlet. The mom could be heard in the background saying, “Oh, you don’t want to do that!”
Fortunately, nothing bad happened to mama bear and the fun continued.
But while the rest of the family was having fun watching the bears, the Basso patriarch was more worried about the pool. He said their pool was likely shot as the claws of the bears would punch holes at the bottom of the pool.
Upon hearing that, one of the Basso kids became distressed and wished the bears would go play in another family’s pool.
The mother jokingly replied, “Well, I’m enjoying it.”
All in all, the Basso family got a rare treat, even if it may have cost them the pool and some floaties.
