Baseball player Blake Bivens, from Danville, Virginia, US, learned about his wife, son, and mother-in-law’s murder through Facebook.
Minor leaguer Blake revealed he was at the airport when he checked his Facebook on his phone and found out his wife, son, and mother-in-law had been murdered.
He saw a headline saying two females and a child had been killed and screamed in the middle of the airport after learning about his family’s tragic death.
Bivens said during a church service: “I found out my family was gone over a Facebook headline.”
“First headline I see is two females and a small child were gone. I immediately knew that was them. I just immediately began to scream in the middle of the airport.”
Bivens said it was the worst moment of his life and the hardest part was when he got home, he realized he would never be able to see his son again.
Bivens’s 19-year-old brother-in-law Matthew Thomas killed his own mother Joan Bernard, Bivens’ wife and their 14-month-old son Cullen in August last year.
He was seen running around naked in Danville, Virginia, US, after he killed Bivens’s wife, son, and mother-in-law.
Bivens and Emily were high school sweethearts and got married in January 2016. They welcomed their first child, Cullen, in June 2018.
Bivens paid a touching tribute to his beloved wife after her death on Instagram.
He wrote: “You would have given everything we had away if it meant changing someone else’s life.”
“And in a way you have; so many people have felt Christ’s love through your life. Though you’re not physically here God’s purpose for your life shines bright and clear.”
During the church service, he read a Bible verse and said this is not going to defeat him and he will meet his family again one day.
