When I was little, I used to be afraid of whether other kids liked me or not.
It seemed as though their opinions mattered the most, which hurt my self esteem.
Here’s a girl who never let others’ opinions and hurtful comments affect her. In fact, she used her weak points to teach them an important lesson of respecting others and learning that nothing is impossible.
Annalee Bailes is a 10-year-old girl who goes to Lacey’s Pleasant Glade Elementary School.
Although she should be having fun and at school, her experience has been quite the opposite.
This is because she’s being bullied by kids at school because she’s blind.
They even call her “monster eyes.”
However, Annalee doesn’t run away from her problems. As a matter of fact, she is very mature at handling such situations.
“Somebody bullied me because he didn’t look at the inside of me,” said Annalee during an interview with KING.

“He looked at the outside,” added Annalee.
Throughout such difficulties, Annalee always maintains her positive outlook.
Sadly, her peers continued to bully her – calling her names, teasing her that she wasn’t normal.
But, Annalee is planning to prove herself to them on this special day.
There will be the school’s 800 meter track meet, and Annalee decided to sign up for it. Even though she can’t see the running track, Annalee wanted to show her peers that she could do anything, and that she won’t back down just because they were making fun of her.
“Everybody says I can’t do challenges, but I want to,” said Annalee.
“That’s what freedom is all about. It’s all about doing what you want and not listening to all these people.” According to Annalee, her bullies and doubters were the ones who motivated her to do this.

And, she will be able to complete the meet, thanks to this special someone.
It turned out that she’s been training with her principal Andrew Pitman, who is helping her by guiding her around the track for two laps. With this yellow rope connecting them together, Annalee is hoping to show everyone that nothing is impossible.
Just the fact that she’s willing to work so hard to prove that she’s able to do anything she wants to is absolutely incredible!
