A blind kitten named Specks and his brother Dot were dumped in the cold, and they both were discovered snuggled up with each other.
A passerby spotted the two in a garden in West London. Specks who was starving and seriously ill cuddled up his brother to keep him safe and warm.
Amanda Rumball, from Blue Cross animal hospital who took care for them, said: “It was lucky these brothers were found when they were and brought in.
”I don’t think Specks would have survived without Dot. He cannot see and his condition means that he would have been very easy prey. He would have been unaware of dangers around him like traffic, wild animals and cold weather.”
”Dot was found huddled up with his brother and I really think he stayed with Specks because he knew how much he needed him. He could have left him but he never did. We don’t know how long they were there but it’s so heart-warming that he stayed with his brother.”
The four-month-old kittens were underweight and covered in fleas. Specks left blind as he had cataracts covering both eyeballs. He was later diagnosed with a nervous system disorder that causes wobbling and shaking.
Amanda said: “They were both frightened but with some warmth, food, toys and love they were purring away by the next morning.
“They were so sweet to watch. Dot would encourage Specks to play and they both loved receiving TLC – they were little purr monsters.”
The brothers are recently at a rehoming centre in Lewknor in Oxfordshire. Chief vet Mark Bossley, said: “A happy future for Specks will be about a new owner being aware of his needs and having him as a house cat or giving him supervision in the garden.”
