Pit bull terriers have been a topic of controversy for quite some time.
It seems like when stories of dog attacks make the news, it often turns out to be this breed.
Back in 2009 in Holland, Michigan, a story of violence emerged involving a pit bull and a man who was beating his estranged wife.
This man was dragging the woman across the street and viciously attacking her. She cried out, “Help me!” numerous times, but the man continued.

A neighbor, who owned a pit bull named Blitz, heard the cries for help. She ran to the front door to see what was going on and before she could stop him, Blitz bolted outside.
At the time, Blitz was two years old and over 100 pounds of muscle — to see him running at you would be an intimidating sight.
Blitz stormed the man and scared him so badly that he let go of his wife. She quickly got up and ran inside to call the police. Blitz never actually attacked the man, but he did enough to save her from the attack.

The police arrived quickly soon after and the man was taken into custody.
Blitz’s mom, who has chosen to remain anonymous, says she hopes this story will encourage people to trust pit bulls more. She says Blitz is great with her kids and is an incredible dog.
