A Black Lives Matter protester has declared war on the police and threatened to shoot officers as she addressed a crowd of demonstrators in Portland, Oregon.
“This is a war, guys. We’re getting ready to get armored up around here. I will continue with my mission by any means necessary,” Letha Winston vowed as she addressed fellow BLM protesters on Sunday.
The mother spoke out on the 81st day of protests in the city and two years after her son, 27-year-old Patrick Kimmons, got shot by police officers after opening fire and wounding two men.
Following the fatal shooting of the 27-year-old, the officers who shot him, Jeffrey Livingston and Garry Britt, were cleared of any misconduct.
In her Sunday speech, Winston added that police officers involved in the shootings should “hang high” and get fried “like a piece of burnt bacon.”
“They need to send you to the electric chair and let you fry like a piece of burnt bacon,” Winston said.
“… I know you got a gun, but so do I… Go ahead and shoot me. I’m shooting back. We’re here to take our streets back.”
During her speech, Winston also addressed the death of George Floyd and suggested that officers associated with his death should be choked until they couldn’t breathe any longer.
“Your mother’s umbilical cord should have wrapped around your neck and choked you just the way you choked George Floyd, you filthy animal,” she said.
“It should have wrapped around your neck … so many times to where you yelled, ‘I cannot breathe!’”
