Pro wrestler Bobby Eaton has passed away at the age of 62, his sister Debbie announced on Facebook.
Eaton was a member of The Midnight Express tag team in the 1980s. The heartbreaking news was announced by Debbie, who called him the ‘kindest, loving person you would ever meet.’
“I never wanted to have to post this, but my Little Brother Beautiful Bobby Eason passed away last night,” she wrote.
“When I find out all the details I will post them. Bobby was the kindest, loving person you would ever meet. I loved him so much and going to miss him,” Debbie added.
The cause of death hasn’t been revealed but many sites reported that Eaton was taken to a hospital in July after injuring his hip and breaking multiple fingers after a fall.
According to WWE, Eaton joined NWA Mid-America when he was only 17 years old. Two years later, he got his first championship after joining forces with Leapin’ Lanny Poffo.
Eaton then became a member of The Midnight Express tag team and partnered with Dennis Condrey.
He also competed as a singles wrestler and won the World Television Championship at SuperBrawl I against Arn Anderson.
According to USA Today, Eaton received nine tag team titles in the WCW and NWA.
In 2019, he was inducted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame.
“WWE is saddened to learn that Bobby Eaton passed away at the age of 62. WWE extends its condolences to Eaton’s family, friends and fans,” WWE wrote on Twitter.
NWA also shared photos of Eaton and wrote: “The National Wrestling Alliance is Saddened to hear about the passing of the legendary ‘Beautiful’ Bobby Eaton. We send our love to his friends and family. His impact & legacy will always be remembered.”
Nick Aldis also paid tribute to the legendary wrestler, writing: “RIP Beautiful Bobby Eaton. A true master of the craft and an ultimate pro with so much class. My condolences to his family, friends and peers.”
