A couple has been arrested in connection to the death of a young girl who was found in a softball field.
Smyrna police identified the remains as 3-year-old Emma Cole 13 months after her body was found on a Delaware softball field.
It is believed the child was dead for many weeks ‘or possibly longer’ before she was found on September 13, 2019.
According to The Delaware News Journal, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children does not have a report on the girl. This suggests that the parents have never reported their daughter missing.
Kristie Haas, 28, and her partner Brandon Haas, 38, have been arrested and charged with ‘arrest without prior requisition,’ which allows officers to arrest suspects in another state.
It is not clear whether Brandon and Kristie will face charges in Delaware.
According to The Delaware News Journal, the couple previously lived in Smyrna and tied the knot in 2017.
In September of last year, the family moved into a home near the softball field where the child’s remains were found.
But only a month later, the couple were evicted from their home on North New Street.
A sketch of the girl, with facial reconstruction, was released months after her remains were found by a dog walker.
Facebook photos posted on Kristie’s page have been found by The News Journal. One photo shows a black-and-white photo of two girls and a young boy.
