The body of a 25-year-old man was found inside the trunk of his friend’s vehicle.
Robert Deupree Avery Coltrain, 25, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the death of Brian Trotter, 25, and illegal transport of a dead body.
According to the victim’s family, the two had known each other for ten years.
Florida Highway Patrol was called to a crash on a Miami highway on Sunday and found Robert Coltrain and his vehicle, according to a Miami-Dade police report.
After officers towed the silver Acura to a parking lot, Coltrain asked if he could remove his items from the car.
Troopers became suspicious as they noticed the smell of rotting meat and buzzing flies around the vehicle.
Officers then opened his trunk and discovered the aspiring rapper’s body “wrapped in a piece of fabric and in an advanced stage of decomposition.”
An autopsy later revealed that the victim was shot numerous times.
Trotter was last seen leaving his Virginia home on October 17 with his friend Coltrain. The motive for the killing was not yet released.
The rapper’s grieving father told Miami Herald: “No one can understand what happened.
“Hopefully, police can shed a light on what made a friend of over 10 years decide to commit something like that.”
One person commented: “With a friend like this one who needs enemies! This Ex friend had plenty of time to dispose of the mans remains yet chose to drive around with him in his trunk until he had an auto accident..
“I don’t think this man’s brain is working as it should yet he will now have a lifetime to think about how he should have just broken off the friendship and left the man alone, instead of killing him! RIP dear victim..”
Another wrote: “I’m losing hope for humanity with these daily occurrences.”
