Dog the Bounty Hunter’s highly publicized search of Gabby Petito’s fiancé, Brian Laundrie is just a publicity stunt, her daughter claims.
Cecily Chapman, 28, said that her estranged father, Duane Chapman, 68, should ‘back off and let FBI handle it’.
“It’s just a publicity stunt,” Chapman told The Sun. “That’s really what it is”.
On September 19, Gabby Petito was found lifeless in Bridger Teton National Forest in Wyoming after a road trip with Laundrie.
Reports said that Laundrie safely returned home without Petito and that the latter’s death was ruled as a homicide.
Now, Dog the Bounty Hunter’s adopted daughter raised concerns over how his dad is financing the high-profile manhunt for Laundrie and questioned who would pay for this ‘nonsense’.
Cecily also added that Duane has been looking for a new reality TV series.
The pursuit for Petito’s fiance strongly reminded Cecily of how her father first got the spotlight during his search for Max Factor heir, Andrew Lester, whom he found in Mexico. However, the 28-year-old insisted that Duane’s current search for Laundrie is wrong.
“A real network would be aware of the situation and I’m pretty sure everyone knows that this is a [readacted] publicity stunt,” Cecily said, adding that she didn’t believe Duane would be able to find Laundrie before the FBI.
“The FBI is never going to let Dog the Bounty Hunter catch Brian anyway,” Cecily said. “The FBI is way too prideful for that”.
Cecily also took a swipe at some of the revelations her dad has made during his pursuit.
“What, you found a Monster Energy can?” Cecily asked. “What does that do for anyone?”
Duane’s daughter also said that some of the footage of her father trekking through swampy waters ‘looks totally staged’.
Cecily and her sister Bonnie Chapman, 22, have been vocal with their criticisms of their father.
Recently, Cecily and Bonnie were not invited to their father’s wedding to Francie Frane in September.
According to the New York Post, Bonnie has also accused Duane of racism and homophobia, as well as cheating on their late mother, Beth.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dog the Bounty Hunter revealed that he previously used the N-word, and defended why he used it.
Cecily said she thinks that her father is trying to gather footage during his manhunt for Laundrie for a new show for himself.
Variety reported that Thinkfactory Media is currently shopping for a new reality series starring Dog the Bounty Hunter.
