An adorable boy shocked his mother by befriending a baby deer in nearby woods and taking the animal home during a holiday in Virginia.

Stephanie Brown had been packing to leave the resort when her 4-year-old son Dominic showed up with a fawn he had befriended.

Luckily for us, she managed to take a photo of the heartwarming moment and shared it on social media, where it immediately went viral.

Stephanie’s post has since gained more than 20,000 shares and over 16,000 likes on Facebook.

In an interview with ABC, Stephanie said: “I was in shock. I was like, ‘No way. My mind is playing games with me.’

“It wasn’t like anything strange for him, it was so weird.”

Even though she was so shocked by the scene in front of her, the mother managed to take her phone out and capture the beautiful moment.

“They were just in sync,” Stephanie added, explaining that the baby deer tilt its head in the same direction as her son as she took some photos.

After the photoshoot, Stephanie asked her son to walk his new friend ‘Flash’ back to the nearby woods so it could be spotted by its mother.

One person commented: “They both look like this is an everyday occurrence for them so precious, both of them.”

Another wrote: “They looked so sweet together! But I do hope the little deer found its own mom again. Hate to think of the little guy alone in the woods.”

A third added: “Omg how emotional am i??? I cried to this.”

Someone else said: “Idk what dom did but I wish I had that personality.”
