A young buy has been dubbed a hero after breaking into a locked car to rescue a trapped baby during a heatwave.
12-year-old Ben from Tulsa didn’t think twice when he saw a distressed toddler locked inside a car during one of the hottest heatwaves in history.
Together with his mother, Nikki Fields, Ben worked to rescue the toddler before it was too late.
And so, the mother immediately dialed 911 and informed the emergency services about their situation. Meanwhile, Ben took a piece of metal and slammed the windscreen until it gave up.
Despite the glass shattering, Ben still couldn’t get inside until he jumped on top of the hoodie and stomped on the broken windshield.
He then grabbed the 2-year-old who was visibly upset and removed her from the vehicle.
“This is what happens when you leave a baby inside a locked car with the windows rolled up? My son Ben is a hero he busted the window open and unlocked the car so we could get the baby out while I was on the phone with 911,” Nikki shared on Facebook after the successful rescue attempt.
As the paramedics arrived at the scene, they applauded Ben for quick-thinking and managed to find the toddler’s mother. She claimed that another adult was with her baby when she left to run an errand.
Despite her claims, the woman received a hefty fine with the case pending further investigation.
According to the paramedics, the toddler was upset and hot but otherwise in good condition.
“I’m so proud of him,” Nikki said in an interview with The Western Journal.
