A 12-year-old boy in China has been carrying his disabled classmate and best friend to school for six years.
Xu Bingyang, 12, carries his disabled classmate and best friend, Zhang Ze to school. The young boy also helps his best friend to refill the water bottle, fetch lunch and go to the toilet.
Xu said: ‘I weigh more than 40kg (88 pounds) and Zhang Ze only weighs about 25kg (55 pounds), so it’s okay for me to carry him,’
Zhang, who suffers from a rare muscle condition and cannot walk or move by himself, said:
‘Xu Bingyang is my best friend. Every day, he studies with me, chats with me and plays with me. [I] thank him to look after me like this every day,’
Xu and Zhang, who are sixth-grade pupils at the Hebazi Town Central Primary School in the county of Qingshen, met when they were in first grade.
Since then Xu has been carrying Zhang to school. Xu told Chengdu Economic Channel: ‘I am bigger than him. I thought if I didn’t help him, nobody else would.’
A teacher told Sichuan Online:
‘For so many years, [Xu] has continued doing good deeds and never complained in front of the teachers and classmates,’
Xu’s mother didn’t know about his kind act at the beginning. It was his classmates who told her about her son’s good deeds. The proud mother said her son never talked about it.
