9-year-old Steven cried tears of joy as he underwent his final chemotherapy treatment after winning his 3-year battle against cancer.
Steven was only 6 years old when he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
His mother, 28-year-old Ashley Cotter, said her son started chemotherapy treatment only days after the diagnosis and continued taking it for the past 3 years.
Ashey shared the emotional video of her son crying that their dining room table before he took the last dose of pills.
She captioned the video: “PRAISE GOD!!! Little mans VERY LAST CHEMO!!! BIG TEARS OF JOY. Sorry no sound but you can just feel it.”
In the video, the boy’s medications were lined up at the table as he sat in front. His eyes started to well up with tears as he realized that he was finally free from the disease.
Steven broke down in tears and sobbed before taking the final dose of chemo treatment.
“He’s had so many blood and platelet transfusions over the past three years, so many medications and hospital stays,” Ashley said to ABC.
Her post was viewed over 13,000 times and internet users praised the young boy for his strength.
“So happy for you guys…praise God…this brought tears to my eyes,” one internet user commented.
“Glad this part of your life if over, Steven. Glad you are able to rejoice in this moment,” another wrote.
“You and your family have a lot to be thankful for…,” a third said.
In another post, Ashley wrote: “You have never seen pure happiness till you’ve seen a 9 year old little boy cry the most happiest tears ever to be cancer free and take his last chemo treatment!!”
She added: “My baby took his last chemo crying with a smile on his face!!!! God blessed my family!”
