As children, making our parents proud used to be one of the priorities. In fact, we all have strived to see their smile. So precious, they also need to be appreciated. When we notice they are proud of us, it usually gives us special kind of happiness.
You’ll not believe the extent this young boy has done to impress his mother. A young boy, Max had not cut his hair for nine years. Not only had he let his hair grow, but he also dreaded it. His locks reached down to the middle of his trunk. Over time, the dreadlocks became lightened as it had exposed to the sun.
Max resembled a reggae musician straight from Kingston, but his looks did not rub off well with his mom. Like most mothers, the two would spend hours going back and forth, exchanging words over the condition of his hair.
She asked him several times to cut it off. So this is the call he made—to cut off his magnificent dreadlocks! The result was astounding. You could hardly believe it was the same boy.
Getting the dreads off was a daunting task. It was time-consuming. Max sat for hours and hours to take off each dread. The only thing Max could think of is how would he look like after his dreads were gone. Since he had been the same hairstyle for nine years, accepting the change is not quite easy.
He must have also imagined his mother’s reaction once she saw his new hairdo. One thing was for sure; the whole process demanded a lot of patience.
A few hours later, all dreads were gone. It was totally worth it; he got a fresh new look and it was awesome. He knew he made the right choice because the look on his mother’s face will be the one he will always remember.
When his mother opened the door, she was in shock probably still trying to think who she was seeing in front of her was her son. She simply couldn’t believe her eyes. In fact, she was so knocked for six she could barely make it through the doorway.
She lost her words and, “Oh my God!” was the only words she could mutter. She was completely stunned by her son’s drastic transformation. The teen went over and gave his mother a big hug. She was so caught up in the moment that she forgot to put down the groceries she was carrying.
Max decided to lead his mother into the house because she was still in disbelief. This is a clear indication that her son’s transformation meant a lot to her.
It was a very creative way of surprising someone. Sure it was a great sacrifice for the young guy to let go of nine years’ worth, but his mother’s happiness was well worth it. They both will never forget that day.
It’s always good to realize that family comes before everything. The little things we do for the family are what really count.
