An adorable toddler with Down’s syndrome has become a model for Amazon’s Smile campaign shortly after capturing the hearts of viewers after appearing in a Primark campaign.
22-month-old Rio Williams from England was born with Down syndrome as well as a perforated bowel and evident breathing issues.
Despite his health complications, the young boy has defied the odds and even managed to appear in campaigns for two major retailers.
After starring in a national campaign by Primark, Rio was picked up by Amazon’s charity campaign called Amazon’s Smile which allows people to make a donation of 0.5% of the net amount of their purchase towards their preferred causes and charities.
The boy’s journey is being documented by his proud mum Kimberley Williams who frequently shares photos of little Rio on social media.
“We are all so proud of Rio, it’s wonderful to see children with disabilities being represented in mainstream advertising,” she said in an interview with Metro as she expressed all she wants for her son is to be accepted by the community.
“Hopefully, Rio is helping to show other children that regardless of ability, all children are beautiful and can achieve amazing things.”
Meanwhile, the boy’s father, Anthony, is thrilled to know that they “are opening the door to many others like him to show yes you can make a difference!”
“All of this is such a breath of fresh air because we honestly thought the worst when we were first told,” he said.
