A four-year-old boy thanked the NHS staff in a sweet way as they tried to save his father’s life who suffered grave injuries in a car accident in Bolton in December.
Paramedics from the Northwest Ambulance Service and staff at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital tried their best to save Kelvin Baker, 35, but unfortunately, he died.
His son whose name is also Kelvin got to know how the doctors tried hard to save his dad but nothing could work. Little boy’s mum Simone said: “I explained to him that all the paramedics and doctors tried to help Daddy but the medicine and things didn’t work.”
“When he learned that the doctors and nurses would have to work over Easter and probably wouldn’t get Easter eggs he decided to help.”
After making an appeal on social media, Kelvin was able to collect 20 Easter eggs which people had left on his doorstep. The boy added £150 in his savings jar and bought 180 more chocolate eggs to donate.
Paramedic Tony Dunn said: “It was a fantastic gesture that came out of nowhere at a very difficult time for the ambulance service.”
ELHT&Me, the official charity for East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, said the “generosity and kindness of the community have been immense.”
After Kelvin Jnr’s sweet act of kindness, Dunn decided to form a JustGiving fundraiser to send him to Disneyland after the coronavirus vanishes from the world.

They called little boy’s gesture beautiful and asked people to donate so Kelvin can go to Disneyland. “I was the recipient of the Easter Eggs on behalf of the North West Ambulance Service. The love shown across the country for this beautiful and very special gesture has been nothing short of amazing.”
“[We want] to give this little boy a very special treat – A trip to Eurodisney… Or if we make enough, Disneyland in Florida.”
Kelvin’s mum Simone described her late husband as an “amazing daddy” who had an “unbreakable bond” with his son.point 354 |
She said: “I just don’t know how I’m going to do this without you, but I know I have to for our boy Kelvin Jnr.point 105 | I always knew you would be an amazing daddy but I never dreamt you would exceed those expectations like you have.point 198 | ”point 205 | 1
“The bond between you and our boy is unbreakable, his face lit up every time you walked into the room. You were the most caring, gentle and loving man I have ever met, who absolutely devoted yourself to me and our son. I will be eternally grateful that I got to, I got to call you my husband and I am so proud to be your wife.”
