A young boy with a giant mole that covers his entire body has spoken out about his condition and revealed he’s learned how to live with his patch and how to deal with bullies who mock him.
11-year-old Lucas Starr was born with a rare mole known as giant congenital nevus which covers his entire body including the face.
Not only does the mole result in dark-colored, hairy patches of skin but it can also lead to fatal brain damages.
“Whilst I’m out in public, I don’t like when people stare at me,” the boy, who is often a practice target of the bullies, admitted.
“I don’t know what they are thinking about me and the way I look and stuff. Some of the time, I don’t enjoy going to school because kids bully me. I don’t know why, because I’m the same as everyone else. I just look different.”
While the boy from Alaska, US, has undergone over three dozens of surgeries, he was just recently rushed to a hospital due to a critical brain tumor.
“They pulled a very small square bone from his skull. As soon as they removed it, they could see it,” the boy’s father, 35-year-old Devon, explained.
“They didn’t have to go in too deep thankfully. But it was all so tough. What happens in the ICU, stays in the ICU. I’m just so pleased he had his father there to pull him through.”
Despite his looks and the nevus that can lead to brain masses, young Lucas isn’t about to let anyone dictate his life.
“I don’t let it stop me from doing anything. I can do everything that a normal kid can do. I just have some roadblocks here and there,” the 11-year-old said.
