A young boy in Arizona called 911 after feeling hungry.
He ordered a Happy Meal, and the best part is the Mesa Police Department came to the rescue.
According to the Mesa Police Department, a 5-year-old Charlie called local 911 dispatcher, Anthony Bonilla, and sweetly asked if he was talking to McDonald’s.
‘Hi, is this McDonald’s?’ Charlie asks, according to audio from the call.
Bonilla said: ‘No, this is the Mesa Police Department. Do you have an emergency?’
‘Can I get one Mc-Happy Meal?’ Charlie says before quickly hanging up.
Bonilla talks with Charlie’s father who said, there was no emergency at their home.
‘It kinda made my day,’ Bonilla tells Charlie’s father.
‘He was asking me if I was McDonald’s and if he could get a Happy Meal.’
Bonilla told Charlie’s father that according to their official protocol, an officer was sent to their home for a wellness check.
Bonilla said: ‘Who knows, maybe he’ll stop by McDonald’s.
The responding officer, Randolph ‘Scott’ Valdez, got Charlie an afternoon snack.
According to a post from the Mesa Police Department, Officer Valdez go to Charlie’s home near McKellips and Ellsworth roads around 2 pm to check there was no emergency.
Charlie’s mother, Kim, shared the photos on her Facebook with the caption: ‘Charlie called 911 and requested a happy meal. How’s your Sunday going?’
She told DailyMail.com that we were shocked when we know about Charlie’s phone call.
‘When we found out Charlie had called 911 we were a little shocked and quite embarrassed! I didn’t know he even knew what 911 was!’
She said that Charlie was ordering the Happy Meal, with a cheeseburger, for his sister.
Officer Valdez knew just how to handle the situation.
‘When officer Valdez showed up he asked Charlie if he had called someone and ordered something. Before he gave him his Happy Meal he kindly explained to him when the right time to use 911 is, and make sure to only use it for a true emergency.’
So many people who have heard the story was appreciated Valdez’s kindness.
‘What touched us the most is how this whole situation was handled with such love and kindness,’ Kim said.
‘My son was able to learn several valuable lessons that day and we will continue to pay it forward as we look for small ways that we can spread a little kindness every day.’
