An 8-year-old boy jumped from the 9th-floor apartment to run away from his abusive parents after years of abuse.
The Ukrainian boy, Anton, fell to his death after arriving home from school. According to neighbors, they heard his parents shouting at him for destroying his clothes before beating him hard.
After that, the young boy fell from the window of their 9th-floor apartment.
Zhanna, one of the neighbors, said she heard the hard beating and it was followed by complete silence. Then she heard the sound of a kid’s rapid footsteps.
“Several seconds passed and there was that horrific thud when a body hits the ground,” she shared.
“I looked out of my kitchen window and saw the boy lying below. I called an ambulance and the police.”
Another neighbor, Andrey, said: “I saw the family going upstairs to their flat. Ten minutes later the boy was lying on the ground as his parents were racing downstairs in the street.”
Emergency services arrived but sadly, Anton was pronounced dead at the scene. According to forensic examiners, he fell head-first and died instantly on impact.
Authorities have launched a criminal investigation against the parents for failing to do their responsibilities.
The parents confessed to beating their child on the day he passed away and said that “he jumped out of his room window right after the abuse,” according to local reports.
They also revealed during the interview that they regularly beat their son for ‘misbehaving.’
After the interview, the couple left their flat and run away. Cops are trying to search for the parents who could face up to 5 years in jail if convicted.
“The boy fell behind at school and we had to hold him back in first grade. His parents were not interested in him at all,” said Anton’s school principal Oksana Zelenska.
Psychologist Zoya Pershyna also said: “Anton visited me for counselling several times. I did not see it coming.”
