A 15-year-old boy took his own life by jumping from the 14th floor of a building as part of a social media stunt. He died when his homemade parachute failed to open properly.
The horrifying moment was captured on camera that shows 15-year-old Bogdan Firsov falling from the 14th floor in the eastern Ukrainian city of Makiivka and his mother cheering him on to perform the dangerous stunt as part of a social media stunt.
As he falls from the 14th floor of a building, his homemade parachute fails to open properly.
An eyewitness said:
‘A crowd of people was there and nobody tried to stop him. They only filmed. People are not human any longer, they have lost all common sense.’
He added: ‘It happened right in front of my eyes. The boy jumped down with a parachute. He flew down and hit the ground with his back. It was really tough.’
Bogdan’s own mother and his relatives were encouraging and filming the dangerous stunt.
The mother was ‘so shocked by his death that she refused to leave the spot’.
As he fell from the 14th floor, an ambulance was called but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A newspaper reported:
‘Dozens of people watched him do it, including his family, his mother. They were filming the jump but nobody was brave enough to stop this young ‘extreme-lover’.
‘Nobody called the police, and so we see the result.’
