A boy with autism has managed to give his mother the shock of her lifetime after using her credit card to purchase a rare toy for $10,000 on eBay.
According to Donna from Sydney, Australia, her 7-year-old boy was upset after she refused to buy the rare Golden Billy Banana which was released as a limited edition of only 100 pieces by Coles Stikeez.
As 7News reported, the autistic boy is a huge fan of rare collectibles who can’t resist rare toys when he sees them.
And after his mother ‘let him down’ by refusing to buy the golden banana for him, the witty son stole her credit card and looked for the rare toy on eBay.
Eventually, the 7-year-old came across an auction and, with complete disregard for his mother’s money, bid $10,000 on the banana toy.
It wasn’t until the next day that the mother realized what her son had bought using her credit card. Allegedly, she received a message from the seller of the rare toy saying she had bought the item.
After overcoming the initial shock, the mother immediately reached out to the seller and told them she wasn’t the one who placed the bid. The seller, however, wasn’t having any of it.
The mother then reached out to eBay who explained to her that the purchase was a “friendly fraud” and that she is likely not getting any money back.
Refusing to give up, Donna kept on contacting eBay, PayPal, and her bank in an attempt to resolve the matter in her favor.
Eventually, eBay responded and said: “eBay understands there are unique circumstances in this case. As a result, the buyer will receive a refund for the purchase.”
While the mother got her money back, she’s going to have to keep her credit card someplace safer in the future!
