A 9-year-old boy who has been in foster care for six years issued an emotional video plea, saying he wants a ‘mom and a dad, or just a mom…’
When asked if he was granted three wishes, the Oklahoma boy named Jordan said he would ask for ‘Family. Family. Family. That’s the only wishes I have.’
Jordan’s dream will soon become a reality after he received more 5,000 adoption inquiries in less than a day after issuing his heartbreaking plea.
He told KFOR about how his younger brother was adopted in 2019 and how he also hopes for a “mom and dad. Or just a mom. Or just a dad – I don’t really care.”
The young boy also said in the video: “The reason it’s important is because so I could have some people to talk to anytime I need to. I hope one of y’all pick me.”
Jordan also said that if he could go anywhere, he would go to ‘an adoption party for a home.’
In less than 12 hours, families from different places as far as Illinois, Kentucky, Florida, and New Jersey contacted the news station.
The department even implemented an overtime schedule to accommodate the thousands of emails and calls expressing their interest to adopt Jordan.
Christopher Marlowe, a state worker, said: “I’m in the process of reading through those profiles to select a family to try to move forward with.”
Marlowe said that over 400,000 children are currently in foster care across the country and many of them have been through trauma.
In Oklahoma, over 7,700 are in foster care and around 500 are ready for adoption.
