A teen who went to school with yellow hair to raise money for his cancer-stricken friend was murdered by his own mother.
13-year-old Tristan Barrass appeared on a BBC series ‘Our School’ in 2017. He was filmed in school with his yellow Mohawk.
When he was questioned by teachers about his hairstyle, he told them: “My friend is dying of bone cancer, I asked if I could dye my hair yellow for him. His favorite color is yellow.”
He also said that his hairstyle “makes me who I want to be. With normal hair, you look like any other person.”
In another video, the teen is seen joking and laughing with his school mates in assembly.
Sadly, the teen passed away alongside his 14-year-old brother Blake Barrass at their home in Shiregreen area of Sheffied.
His mother Sarah Barrass is accused of murdering her two children and will stand trial alongside the children’s uncle, 37-year-old Brandon Machin.
Police responded to a call to the property at around 7:30 am and arrested Machin and Barrass. Four ambulances, two riot vans, and up to 15 police cars rushed to the house.
Barrass is also charged with three counts of attempted murder of two other children. At the end of a ten-minute hearing at Sheffield Crown Court, Judge Thomas remanded the pair in custody.
Tearful students brought teddy bears, flowers and balloons to the scene. Fundraising has also been launched to help the other children who survived from the woman’s attacks.
The labour MP for Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough, Gill Furniss, said she was “deeply saddened by the tragic incident.”
