A young boy was dubbed a hero after rescuing his grandmother from certain death as she found herself drowning following a seizure.
9-year-old Kian Aliffe made use of his newly-gained rescue skills he obtained while watching YouTube videos after seeing his grandma, 51-year-old Angela Jones, drowning in her bath.
The incident occurred at the family home in South Wales where Kian saw Angela floating in the water when he rushed to the bathroom to see how she was doing.
Fortunately, the young boy knew exactly what to do to save her life. After lifting Angela’s head out of the water, Kian drained the bath and stabilized her so that she wouldn’t slip back underwater.
Then, the 9-year-old schoolboy called the emergency services and waited with his grandma until they arrived at their home.
“As soon as I got there I knew something was wrong when I saw Kian sitting outside the house. Then he told me he was waiting for an ambulance,” the boy’s mum, Hailey, said according to Wales Online.
“Not many adults would know what to do in that situation – I would crumble so the fact that he was on his own and didn’t panic is amazing.
“What’s even stranger is that Kian is partially deaf and was listening to his earphones at the time so he only heard a faint splash and a sort of shout of his name.
“I’m always telling him ‘get off the internet’ but he said that he only knew what to do after seeing a video online.”
As Kian explained, he previously watched a video on how a girl suffering a seizure was rescued from a pool.
“I remember seeing them pull the girl out of the water so I knew I had to try and lean her head back and to unplug the water so she wouldn’t go under,” he said.
“I did panic but knew I needed to help so tried to find someone to help and phone the ambulance with me.”
